About HOTBA

Today’s Heart of Texas Builders Association, (HOTBA), has been safeguarding and facilitating the builder’s ability to produce affordable new housing in the Central Texas Region for over 50 years.

The Heart of Texas Builders Association, founded over 50 years ago, has fostered builders’ potential to deliver affordable housing in Central Texas. Throughout its history, HOTBA has been a pronounced advocate and resource provider for the construction industry in the region.

At present, HOTBA’s membership encompasses a broad spectrum of experts associated with the building industry. Our current membership includes local builders and industry-related businesses ranging from financial institutions to craftsmen and plumbing contractors.

The role of HOTBA extends beyond a mere networking platform. The Association serves as a valuable information hub, updating its members about fluctuations in building regulations, fresh and forthcoming legislation on local, state, and national platforms, as well as innovative trends and products in the building industry.

Complementing these, HOTBA frequently organizes meetings and circulates newsletters, in addition to issuing the NAHB publication to keep the Association’s members abreast of developments within the community.

Besides these regular activities, fundraisers feature prominently in the Association’s calendar of events. HOTBA sponsors numerous fundraising events every year. The key annual fundraisers are the Home Products Show in February, a major golf tournament in September, and the Parade of Homes in June. The funds raised from these initiatives go towards the Association’s operation, political activism, and scholarships for the building trade.

Setting high standards in corporate social responsibility, HOTBA has also contributed to constructing several Habitat for Humanity homes in Waco. This endeavor peaked in significance when, in August 2001, former President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush pitched in with a team of volunteers to erect a home. Most recently, HOTBA funded a Habitat for Humanity home-build on Taylor Street, reinforcing their commitment to fostering community development.
